# Get market cap by symbol

Returns the latest market capitalization (in USD) for an asset.

## Parameters

| Name | In | Type | Required | Description |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| `symbol` | query | string | yes | Asset symbol to fetch the market cap for (e.g. `BTC`, `ETH`, `SOL`). |

## Responses

Every error status returns the same body, described in [Errors](https://docs.truemarkets.co/developer-resources/errors.md).

### 200

Market cap data for the requested symbol

| Field | Type | Required | Description |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| `symbol` | string | no | The asset symbol |
| `market_cap` | string | no | Market capitalization in USD (as string to preserve precision) |

### 400

Bad request - symbol parameter is required

### 404

No market cap data found for the symbol

### 500

Internal server error
